Overview

About Our Faucets, Toilets & Disposals Service

Bryan Plumbing offers faucet and toilet repair in Florida homes. We fix dripping faucets, running toilets and jammed garbage disposals. We also install new faucets, toilets and disposals. Most of these jobs take just one visit.

Faucets and toilets get used every day, so they wear out first. Florida hard water makes it happen faster. Limestone minerals coat the parts inside a faucet until the handle gets stiff. They crust over the fill valve in a toilet tank. They leave grit that keeps the flapper from sealing.

These problems are not emergencies on day one. But a running toilet can waste a lot of water before you see the bill. A slow drip under a sink can rot the cabinet floor. We find the real cause and fix it with quality parts. If a new fixture makes more sense than a repair, we tell you straight.

Warning signs

When to Call for Faucets, Toilets & Disposals

Faucet and toilet problems are easy to spot. These are the calls we get most often.

Leaky or dripping faucet

A worn cartridge, O-ring or seat is the usual cause. Hard water scale can also keep the faucet from shutting off all the way.

Running toilet

If the tank hisses or refills on its own, water is leaking past the flapper. Or the fill valve is not shutting off.

Toilet leaking at the base

A loose toilet breaks the wax seal under it. Water around the base can damage the floor if you let it go.

Disposal hums but will not spin

Something is stuck inside, or the motor overheated. A plumber can often get it turning again. Sometimes the unit needs to be replaced.

Water under the sink

Leaks can come from supply lines, shutoff valves, the faucet base, the drain or the disposal. Each one needs a different fix.

Weak flow from one faucet

When only one faucet or showerhead is weak, scale in the aerator or cartridge is usually to blame.

Call earlyFixing a drip or a running toilet early saves water. It also protects the cabinet and floor. If you wait, a small part swap can turn into a rotted vanity or a soft floor.

DIY or a pro

DIY or Hire a Plumber?

Some faucet and toilet repairs are simple. Others go wrong fast. A toilet flange can crack. A rusted faucet nut may not come off. An old shutoff valve can snap when you turn it. A plumber has the parts and know-how to handle these surprises.

Bryan Plumbing treats small jobs with the same care as big ones. You get a clear price, a clean work area and quality lead-free parts. Our workmanship warranty includes parts and labor.

Faucets, Toilets & Disposals Tips for Florida Homes

A few small habits help faucets, toilets and disposals last longer with Florida water.

  1. Soak aerators in vinegar

Unscrew faucet aerators and showerheads now and then. Soak them in vinegar to melt away scale and bring back good flow.

  2. Test for a running toilet

Add some food coloring to the toilet tank and wait a bit. If color shows up in the bowl, the flapper is leaking.

  3. Run cold water with the disposal

Keep cold water running while the disposal grinds and for a few seconds after. This helps push food down the drain.

  4. Keep stringy food out

Corn husks, celery, onion skins, shrimp shells and grease do not belong in a disposal. Put them in the trash.

  5. Turn shutoff valves twice a year

Close and open the valves under sinks and behind toilets now and then. This keeps scale from locking them in place.

  6. Skip toilet tank tablets

Bleach tablets in the tank wear out the flapper and seals faster. Clean the bowl instead.

Pricing

Faucets, Toilets & Disposals Cost in Florida

We price each job after the plumber sees it. You get an upfront price for the repair or a new fixture. You approve it before we take anything apart. The bill matches what you agreed to. These things affect the price.

Repair or replace

A new cartridge or flapper costs much less than a new faucet or toilet. We tell you when a repair is the smart choice.

Who buys the fixture

You can buy the faucet or toilet yourself, or we can supply a quality one. Either way, the price is set first.

Valves and supply lines

Old stuck valves or brittle supply lines often need to be replaced during the job.

Flange and floor condition

A broken toilet flange or a soft floor under the toilet adds work to a toilet installation.

Space under the sink

Tight cabinets, undermount sinks and rusted nuts can add time to faucet and disposal work.

Questions

Faucets, Toilets & Disposals FAQ

How do I fix a running toilet?

Most of the time, a worn flapper is the cause. Water leaks from the tank into the bowl, and the fill valve keeps refilling it. Replacing the flapper or the fill valve usually fixes it. Bryan Plumbing carries both on the truck. If the toilet still runs, we check the flush valve and the handle.

Why does my faucet keep dripping after I turn it off?

The part inside the faucet that stops the water is worn out. That is usually a cartridge, O-ring or rubber seat. Florida hard water wears these parts down faster. Leaky faucet repair is often a quick fix. If the faucet is old or rusted, a new one may be the better choice.

Why is my garbage disposal humming but not working?

Something is jammed inside, or the motor has overheated. Turn off the power to the disposal first. Never put your hand inside. Turn the hex key in the bottom to loosen the jam. Then press the reset button. If it still hums, call us for garbage disposal repair.

Can I use a garbage disposal with a septic tank?

Yes, but use it lightly. A disposal sends more solids into your septic tank, so it fills up faster. Many Florida homes on septic use the disposal only a little. Scrape plates into the trash first. Keep grease out of the drain.

Will you install a toilet or faucet I bought myself?

Yes. Bryan Plumbing installs fixtures you supply. Before we take the old one out, we check that the new one fits. If parts are missing or it does not fit, we tell you before any work begins. Then you can decide what to do.

How do I flush my toilet when the water is out after a hurricane?

Pour a bucket of water straight into the bowl, all at once. The toilet will flush on its own. You can also fill the tank by hand and use the handle. If you are on septic and your yard flooded, flush as little as you can until the ground dries out.
